Chocolate Drenched Murder The Chocolate Cafe Series Book 7 edition by Valley Sams Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Love this series- these are fast reading books with great characters!
Kaeryn WIlkes appears to me missing and Mac and Brie are concerned. Meanwhile, Brie's 10 year reunion is coming up.
Great story, plenty of twists and this book kept me interested to the last page. Anxiously waiting the next book in this series!
Wow...just wow. There is really nothing more to say about this book. Gripping entertainment from page 1 until the end. Twists and turns all the way, this is definitely a show stopper. Can't wait to see what Valley Sams comes up with next.
Catherine (Mac) Mackenzie and Sabrina (Brie) Woodhouse are attending Brie's class reunion. Being escorted by Mac's boyfriend, Detective Louis Stocker is a big plus when one of the attendees drinks too much and threatens others. The reunion chaos continues the next day when the woman who was threatened is found dead. The woman's brother gives the police the name of his sister's business partner, insisting that the man is the top suspect. When the drunk from the reunion is brought in for questioning, Mac and Brie learn that her daughter, who is their employee, is missing. With a killer on the loose the girls and Louis go to work to find the missing girl and solve the murder. The characters are realistic. The murder plot is a complex tale of high school angst, jealousy and insanity. This is a series that will keep you eating chocolate and turning the pages!
Mac and Brie have never been busier but Kaeryn is still not around. They finally come to realize just how bad things really are at home for her. I love that this group of regular characters has grown, Kaeryn and Brian are fantastic! This series has a very interesting base and each installment only adds to it. Through the series we have gotten to know the characters and build a relationship with them that gets better with each new book, and this one is no different. The reunion provides the perfect setting to discover more about Sabrina's past and the other residents of the town and not just Mac's wealthy neighbors and friends of her grandfather. I love how all the characters in this book were really tied in to each other from high school which leads up to all of the excitement. Kaeryn is a perfect fit and its nice to see Brie and Mac recognize her talent. I'm anxious for the possibilities in store for not just Kaeryn but all of them, as well as any new murders that they discover.
Kaeryn finds herself in a horrible predicament when he mother causes a scene in a local convenience store. Her mother is caught shoplifting and Kaeryn leaves her in the store. She fails to turn up at work the next day and Mac and Brie become worried. By afternoon Mac calls Brian, Kaeryn’s boyfriend, only to learn that he hasn’t heard from her either. That evening the ladies attend Brie’s ten year class reunion. Shockingly Kaeryn’s mother is also in attendance. She is highly inebriated and embarrasses not only herself, but many of the attendees.
The morning after the reunion begins peacefully for Mac and Louis until police matters take Louis away from home. A woman they all spent time with the evening before has been found dead at her business. It is quickly determined that her death was not an accident.
The latest addition to the Chocolate Cafe Series is sure to please. Kaeryn’s story becomes a bit more clear when we meet her mother. New characters are introduced and things are not always as they appear. The story is filled with twists and turns which leave you guessing, who is the perpetrator in this crime. Mac and Louis’ relationship moves forward nicely. I also liked to sense of caring that is conveyed for Kaeryn from all of her friends. I can’t wait for the story to continue.
From the very start of this book I was drawn into the emotions of Kaeryn and her mother, Alyssa. I was in tears reading about this struggle and how difficult it must be for Kaeryn not only because she is a teen but because she has to act like the mother.
Meanwhile back at the Chocolate Cafe, Brie and Mac are overwhelmed because their up and coming baker, Kaeryn is no where to be found. They are very concerned for her because she is such a dependable employee that they consider family.
Cafe aside Mac is determined to get Brie ready for her 10 year high school reunion and Brie is fighting tooth and nail. She really doesn't want to go because there is no one that she wants to see. She also knows that Alyssa will be there drinking too much while everyone else is concerned about her daughter. Things get said and before you know it someone is found dead that was at the reunion. The suspects are thin and much to be desired! They have their hands full on this mystery.
Can't wait for book 8. These characters are very close knit and look forward to more of their adventures.
I recieved an ARC of this book from the publisher and the review is my opinion only.
loved this one ..anything with chocolate can't be bad
